Reflections of Winter Sun

Carol A. Hand

I awake as the sun streams through my bedroom window
Setting the morning aglow
On a peaceful Sunday in December
Blessed with a new layer of crystalline sparkling snow

I’m so grateful for these most precious gifts
As my eyes open on another day
Another chance to live and learn
Another chance to show I care through what I do and say

The sun of winter on sparkling snow
Silence of an early morning before others rise
These are the things I miss most in the city
Their presence today a wondrous surprise

About Carol A. Hand

What matters are not the titles I’ve held or university degrees I earned or the size of a house or bank account. It’s really what I’ve learned from ordinary people like me whom I’ve met along the way. They taught me to live with gratitude and give thanks for each new day.
