Carol A. Hand

Yesterday on a snowy spring morn
Birds arrived, more than one thousand strong
The air was filled with their plaintive cry
Feed us now or we’ll surely die

You didn’t fill our feeders you thoughtless twit
You fed us in years passed so we planned on it
By the time I bought seed most of the birds had flown
Leaving a feast for a fat grey squirrel to enjoy all alone

~ Those who already have more than enough to satisfy their needs, get even more.

    1. Yes, I guess the squirrel gets the seeds and whatever worms they harbor. I’ve tired to police their behavior in the past with no success, so I’ve learned to accept what I haven’t been able to change. But I did stand inside urging the remaining birds to organize and drive the squirrel from its new kingdom. Sadly, they preferred to give up without a try.

      1. Wow, the birds, here, are much more militant. You know us Buckeyes! I have seen them dive bombing marauding squirrels before.

I love squirrels and birds, so it’s hard for me to take sides. But I understand the birds need food right now.

Have you checked on line to see if there is a humane way to chase off this squirrely character?

        1. Thank you for letting me know about the “like” issue, Lynz. I just checked and the right boxes are checked so there’s not much else I can do. But I am deeply grateful for your kind words. ❤
